About me

My name is Bartosz Maćkiewicz and I am an assistant professor in the Epistemology Unit at the Institute of Philosophy, University of Warsaw.

In my research I work mainly in experimental philosophy.

I am a member of the Experimental Philosophy Lab “KogniLab”, where I conduct research and provide technical support for research projects.

I currently serve as the editor-in-chief of Filozofia Nauki, an academic journal published by the University of Warsaw.

Beyond experimental philosophy, my interests include philosophy of language, classical epistemology, linguistics, quantitative methods in the social sciences, and the use of computational quantitative methods and statistical data analysis in the humanities (digital humanities).

In recent years, my research has focused in particular on:

  • meta-analyses in experimental philosophy (including the epistemic side-effect effect),
  • how philosophical training shapes judgments about philosophical cases,
  • differences between VR and questionnaire-based methods in moral dilemmas,
  • the interface between semantics, pragmatics, and syntax (including non-doxastic attitudes).
